Ok, so last night's 7:00 San Diego show wasn't just a "night of honesty". In KG's words, it was a night "of full disclosure". It certainly was.

I've been down-right blessed to see KG 4 times now over the last year; and wow, last night was SOMETHING ELSE. Her material was literally ALL new. The last time I saw her was in May and there was not one thing repeated. Honestly, she was in rare form. And by rare, I mean f*cking awesome.

I refuse to spoil anything for the special but I will list some of the topics she dished on to add to the already mounting anticipation... She began with Brittany and her Circus tour (Brit had just been in San Diego 2 days before), of course, Kanye & Taylor Swift, Whitney (old Whitney and new Whitney on Oprah), her love affair with Levi and some Palin dirt, more behind the scenes at the Teen Choice Awards, the VH1 Divas Live, Miley and her "camel toe half-cooch", a snippet of Emmy stuff, John & Kate, LaToya Jackson- which led to Michael Jackson and a few comments on Joe Jackson, The View and Barbara Walters (ummm, soooo funny), and oh yes- Maggie's new drink of choice!

We've all shared how we appreciate seeing her live because she talks to the audience as if you are having a one-on-one conversation with her, and last night was no exception. The audience was transcendent. And I think that is the epitome of what helps make or break a show. We were all pumped and psyched to be there and she reciprocated. At one point she got so side-tracked she threw her notebook on the ground- then said she was having way too much fun. And, uh, we were too. She even made herself laugh a few times- which those endearing moments I love because she's just so real and caught up in the moment. I didn't want it to end; and it almost seemed like it was going to go on for an eternity. Despite having a second show to do at 9:30, she didn't end until 9:00. It was 2 blissful, side-aching hours.

Even with Bravo's horrendous editing, they could easily craft an hour-long special with her material from the first show alone and it would absolutely be Emmy Award worthy...

She waved, she danced (more than once), she improvised; it was sheer, live, comedic brilliance. She was warm and welcoming, beautifully glowing, and had a slim body to die for. God, she looked fabulous.

This WILL be an extraordinary special... with potentially a few fun surprises...

Ohgooooooodd,I wish I could have been in the audience :smt089 if only Bravo could air it unedited, or sell an unedited, uncensored version. So we could get the real stuff, garghsijklnjskl
I'm so glad you enjoyed it dietsoda, and I trust you to appreciate KG's greatness on stage. I can't wait! A month is way too long.

What a great recap dietsoda. I went to the 9:30 show and thought it was fabulous, the best I've ever seen her live. And reading your recap made me remember even more about her show so thank you very much. I wish I would have gone to the 7:00 show because it went a little longer and could have had even more of our Kathy. The 9:30 show started late because like you said the 7:00 didn't get over until 9:00 and we were standing outside the theater and you could hear the cheers from inside at 9 when it ended. (I knew we were in for quite a treat then.) The second show ended up starting at 9:45 and ended about 11:25. I didn't want it to end.

And how lucky you are to have seen her 4 times this year. I was bummed that she wasn't coming to Seattle this year which is why I decided to take a nice vacation to San Diego then stay for the book signing. Those two thing made my whole vacation worth it. I wish I was going to Chicago to see her again but until I hit the lotto I'll have to settle for seeing her in Seattle on Jan. 28th. I'm excited to get the tickets for that tomorrow. Until then maybe I'll have to try me some "ski/skey" (sp?). :D

All the best.

At the San Diego taping of this show, the Bravo Executive Producer for this special came out and made some annoucements before KG performed. One of them being that the show would air on November 3rd...

You're so sweet, lgbisacougar! Thank you... I enjoyed recapping the show as it enabled me to reminisce as well...

So funny that we had crossed paths both at the show and at the book signing! I think it's great you came down and made a nice little "KG Vacation"! Good for you!

Cheers!

Hopefully we'll cross paths again someday dietsoda, especially when I am in So Cal for another Kathy event. My "KG Vacations" have been absoulutely the best. From meeting her in Bora Bora in March 2008, for the "Escape with the Stars", to this year in San Diego and at the book signing. Definitely experiences of a lifetime. I'm not sure what my next one will be though. Hmmm I'll have to think about that one. (Oh and save a little more money.)

I bought my tickets for the Seattle show yesterday and I believe they are front row (?), Pit Box 1, so that will be amazing. (Only a few more months to go.)

And I know I've said this before, but just want to say thank you again to all you D-listers and members who keep this forum current and awesome with all the great Kathy info. All your efforts are very much appreciated.

Take care everyone.

The Bravo website doesn't mention the October 27th date that's been bandied about here. November 3 seems like the correct date, though their online schedule only goes out two weeks, so maybe keep an eye on it?

Now if you don't mind, I'll go cry in a corner waiting for nov 3rd.

So what did everyone think of it?

I LOVED the michael jackson chunk. Hilarious.

I thought it was edited a lot better than the way they butchered She'll Cut A Bitch. I didn't entirely like the picture show and tell thing..but that just might be me personally. Altho saying that, her running naked crying was really v. funny, if reused from the Shmemmys.

One thing I am sad they didn't use from the shows was when Kathy would say something 'offensive' and then she would stand there and wave. I call it the "Kathy wave". She used to say ..."OH KATHY ... .that was ... inappropriate!". Now, she does the "Kathy wave" and it's a riot. She did it several times in San Diego, but that footage didn't make the cut. Still a great show! :D
