How did you meet Kathy? I've been a big fan of Kathy for a long time. So, last year, a very dear friend gave me a birthday present, a ticket to Kathy's concert. Unbeknownst to me, behind my back my friend, Kathy & Kathy's producer were hatching an elaborate plot.
Before the show, we stopped
for dinner at the home of some other good friends. The
doorbell rang. I was sitting near the entrance; so, it made
sense when my hostess called in from the kitchen, asking if I
could answer the door. And there I found. . .Kathy and the crew
from "My Life on the D-List." It was, to say the least, a huge
surprise! My poor little brain went back and forth like the
ball in a pinball machine. Kathy was fantastic, down to earth, warm
and, of course, quick-witted as hell. She was so great and
invited us all backstage after the show. Naturally, only about
5 minutes of the footage made it to "My Life on the D-List," but it
wasn't being on TV that was a thrill for me. Meeting Kathy
was wonderful, and she truly impressed me. Gracious, funny, genuine,
and absolutely fabulous. I've met other celebrities in work-related situations.
But Kathy is the first celebrity I met strictly as a fan. It
was a thrill!
What do you like about Kathy? Kathy brightens my day or night. If I catch even a moment of her on tv, I'm immediately smiling. I just love that girl, and I love her sense of humor. She is so bold and bright and outrageous and smart. Funny, with a lightning fast wit. And, in the midst of all that wild humor is a warm and kind heart. Once in a while, she says something that makes me cringe; but I don't care. She's always fabulous. When I saw Kathy in concert, I was going through a seriously tough time. She had me laughing for two solid hours: the best medicine possible! So, I guess that means that she's also a healer!
What is your favorite Kathy moment? I tried to answer this; I really did. I have so many favorite moments. Loved her trip to Iraq, especially her personal interactions with the soldiers. But, honestly, I have way too many favorite moments to list!
What do you do outside of the KG Forum? I'm a freelance editor and writer. I also do some teaching of stress management related topics and have done a lot of work with hospices, people with AIDS and other serious challenges.
