STAR PRAISES ONE STRONG BLACK WOMAN
Published: May 15, 2006 (Star Magazine)
Leave it to sarcastic comedienne Kathy Griffin to take on race and storm-ravaged New Orleans in her new comedy special. But as she jokes in the show -- which gets its title from Kathy identifying with the victims of Hurricane Katrina -- "I'm not as black as Keven Federline!"
Highlights include the dirt on her getting fired from E!'s red-carpet team, her marriage troubles and her hilarious backstage visit to Celine Dion's Vegas show (or "Cirque du Celine," as Griffin refers to it).
Griffin used eBay to auction off, for Katrina charities (click here to donate now to the red cross), the chance to accompany her to Las Vegas -- and is soon swamped with Celine memorabilia that her gay friends want autographed. Her Dion impression is terrific, and Dion is a good sport -- considering some of the jokes made at the singer's expense. If you don't have Bravo here's the reason you should.
